So I decided to co-host the June Challenges for MLPA. My co-host and I decided that we'd have two challenges a week, I'd take the Tuesday POST with the challenge deadline by Friday and midnight, and she's take the Saturday POST with the deadline by Monday at midnight.

Here's the before of the sketch I made for everyone to use as inspiration. The only rule was that there had to be stripes on the page.



And now here's my creation! There's actually a second page that has a little bit of journaling on it. The paper is Junkitz, with Club Scrap science overlays. I thought that the title was clever, considering H is a chemist.

Recipe Card

So because I'm such the little joiner now, I decided to particpate in a "swap" for MLPA. This swap's topic was Appetizers, and I used mom's de-li-si-o-so artichoke dip. The picture's a little crooked. All the papers are inked to basically look like an artichoke's colors. A little silver star brad to hold the papers together. But my FAVORITE element is the 1 inch strip of the artichoke image on the right hand side. I printed it in grey scale and then rubbed green inks over it for dimension. Lastly, they've been spritzed with that perfect pearl stuff from Ranger.

There are 25 of these made. Can't wait to get the full book in a few weeks!

The Rent's Due Again?!

The newest layout in the album. It commemorates the fact that H and I are cohabitating. The outside of the layout shows the "Before"...or what I like to call the 'during-the-move-mess.' Each picture opens to see the "After"...or the 'this-is-our-house-so-you-better-keep-it-clean!' pictures. The title is on a transparancey, so I stiched it to the front of the little book. Inside houses the journaling. And yes, those are actually phillips head screw eyelets that I have had for a loooooong time and finally found a reason to use!

Moments

So I'm deeply involved with the MLPA forum. I'm doing a "Swap" whatever that means, and I'm competing in Challenges, going to classes - and who knows, I might even attend a Scrap!. This is a good thing for me. So the 2nd Challenge for May I actually completed and is below. We were supposed to use a page dimension other than what we normally use. I did an 8x8 and let me tell you...it was un.com.for.ta.ble. I think I'm going to cheat and adhere it to a 12x12 so that I can add it to a scrapbook. Originally the design was supposed to hang on the wall, but I don't like how it looks in the plastic frame. Anyways, thanks for looking. I'm tired and I want to go to bed!

A few things...

So this is my new-and-improved scrap space. When Hans was away I guess two weekends ago I had a lot of fun at Michaels, ACMore and MLPA. Here are some of my adventures. Notice the 12x12 cardstock in gradiant. Yeah - I did that.

This is a head-on shot of the shelves. I painted them white so they blended in - and then I hung them up! This is how that conversation went:
::ring, ring::
H: Hey Baby, what's up? I'm playing pool.
J: Where's the drill?
H: Um, the storage area. What do you need the drill for?
J: Don't worry, I know what I'm doing.

A close up of my buttons! After I put all the cardstock together, I color coordinated my buttons. Each shaker has an embellishment hanging from it.

I. Am. Obsessive.

These are the techniques that I completed at that technique class at MLPA. It's difficult to see what I did, but my favorite technique is the splatter paint (top right). The red on the bottom is a gold card with thick red paint on it - then scratched away. Time consuming, but could be fun. The brown tag didn't exactly come out the way it's supposed, but it looks better in person. The light pink is heavy acrylic paint with debossed stamping - then stained light pink.
